Your

First Appointment

Preparing for your first appointment is one of the most important steps toward successful permanent hair removal. This guide explains what to expect, how to prepare, and how you can help achieve the best possible results.

Understanding

Hair Growth

Every treatment begins with a confidential consultation. Barbara will ask about your hair growth, previous hair removal methods, medications, surgeries, and any hormonal or endocrine changes that may contribute to unwanted hair growth. This information helps identify factors that may affect your treatments and allows Barbara to develop a treatment plan based on your individual needs.

All information shared during your consultation and treatments is kept in the strictest confidence.

One of the most important things you can do before beginning electrolysis is to stop tweezing, waxing, and threading.

When a hair is removed from the root, it cannot be treated until it naturally grows back. Tweezing can also contribute to ingrown hairs, inflammation, and the appearance of "regrowth" when the hair finally returns weeks or even months later.

If you currently tweeze every day, a simple guideline is to multiply the number of minutes you spend tweezing by seven. Approximately one week after you stop tweezing, this is often the amount of treatment time needed to clear the area. Most clients who have tweezed regularly should expect weekly appointments for at least two months before treatment times begin to decrease.

Unlike tweezing or waxing, shaving removes hair only at the surface of the skin. It does not increase the amount of hair you grow or cause hair to become thicker.

Please allow at least 24 hours of hair growth before your appointment so the hairs are visible for treatment. As treatments progress, Barbara may occasionally recommend allowing several days of growth so finer hairs can also be treated.

Permanent hair removal is a process, not a single treatment.

Hair follicles are most effectively treated while the hair is in its early growth stage. Keeping appointments consistent and treating hairs soon after they appear helps shorten the overall length of treatment.

As treatment progresses, appointment times become shorter, visits become less frequent, and permanent results become more noticeable.

Electrolysis is recognized by the FDA as the only method of permanent hair removal that is effective for all skin tones and all hair colors.

Permanent hair removal gives you more time for the things you enjoy and less time managing unwanted hair. Barbara's goal is to help you achieve lasting results with personalized care and realistic expectations every step of the way.
